BANGARAM

Bangaram is a tiny teardrop shaped island which lies very close to Agatti and Kavaratti. The tourist resort on this island provides an amazing opportunity for guests to unwind from the pressures and tensions of modern life. Two small islands of Thinnakara and Parali also lie close to Bangaram enclosed by the same lagoon.

During the night phosphorescent plankton washed ashore on the coral sands impart a bluish glow to the beach which is totally enchanting. Bangaram has carved its presence in the international tourist map. There is something indescribably romantic about the very notion of an uninhabited island and Bangaram justifies that feeling.

Bangaram is encircled by a continuous halo of creamy sand. Like all the other islands of Lakshadweep luxuriant plantations of coconut provide coolness even during the hottest part of the day. At twilight, the setting sun, a ball of crimson in a flaming sky, casts its reflection on the water, and with the ever present coconut palms as a black silhouette, Bangaram is at the height of its allure. That is the hour when every visitor promises himself another visit someday.

Bangaram island is the more unhurried can simply laze on the silver beaches, soak in the sun, listen to the sound of the waves and watch the swaying of the palms. The island feels like it was designed specifically for languid strolls to watch the beach dances of hermit crabs and listen to the raucous music of the seabirds.

WHAT TO SEE

Under water world :- The underwater world at bangaram is still in a very good condition. Most of the time there are only small groups of divers which go together to a dive site. There are so many things to see like wonderful coral blocks as well as the various fish everywhere.

On the reef walls which go down some hundred of meters - one can have the chance to see big sharks. If you are not lucky to see one there you can be sure to find white-tip reef sharks or nurse sharks at the other dive sites. From the most colourful coral fish over moray eels, turtles, barracudas to napoleons you see anything under water. Not to forget the stingrays and the eagle rays as well as the trips to the old wrecks.

The warm, clear, deep waters of the Indian Ocean with its myriad marine flora and fauna are an irresistable invitation to the scuba diving fraternity of the world. The exquisite coral formations including the black coral formations, the large variety and number of coral fish-the angel, the clown, the butterfly, the surgeon, the groupers, not to mention the abundance of the awesome, but harmless sharks, mantarays, sting rays, moray eels and turtles, make diving at bangaram an addictive experience, enough to make impressive any diver's logbook with the stamp of the Diving School at Bangaram.
