Raja Ji National Park spans over an area of 820sq. Km which
includes Rajaji, Motichur and Chilla wildlife sanctuaries, parts of Dehradun,
Siwalik and Lansdowne Forest Divisions. These three sanctuaries were
amalgamated in 1983 to Rajaji National Park, named after the Late Raja Gopal
Chariya. The majestic Ganges flows through the National Park for a distance
of 24km, besides the innumerable streams and brooks making it rich and
diverse. The Park has got the largest area representing Shiwalik Eco-system.
The Shivalik trail is 10 million year old and very rich in fossils. It's
fossils faunal remains include about 50 species of elephant, one of them is
present today.

HOW
TO REACH
By Road - From Delhi it is a comfortable 5 hour drive through
Meerut, Muzaffar Nagar, Roorkee and Haridwar. When driving from Delhi the
guests are suggested to take bypass roads in Meerut and Muzaffar Nagar. Near
Khatauli are a number of stopovers for refreshment like Cheetal Grand,
Moolchand Resorts and Midway. As the last stretch of 8 km is a dirt track,
through dense jungle and inhabited by wild elephants, the guests are advised
to arrive well before sunset.
By Rail - Rishikesh is the closest railway station, though Haridwar
is the most convenient. From Haridwar the ride is through beautiful forest
in the foothills of Himalayas and takes only 45 min. There are a number of
trains from all parts of countries for Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Wildlife - The Rajaji National Park, uttaranchal/ uttarakhand is
spread over an area of 820.42 SQ. K.M. It is a home of 23 species of
mammals and 315 species of Birds.The park is home to the Tiger,
Leopard, Himalayan Bear, Cheetal, hog deer, barking deer, Sambar deer,
wild boar, antelopes such as the Nilgai, Goral ,Jackal, Hyena, Jungle
Cat, Leopard Cat, Civets, Himalayan Yellow-Throated Marten, Sloth
Bears, Pythons, King Cobra, Common Krait, Indian Cobra and the Monitor
Lizard and above All the Asian Elephant.

Bird watching - Bird Watching is
something, which is close to our heart and no guest returns without
his share. Species-specific trips are organized on request. The area
is inhabited by over 400 species of birds. Hornbills, Red Jungle fowl,
Sunbirds and Jungle Owlets are some of our permanent guests at the
retreat.
