This small resort is set in rainforest and tropical
fruit trees behind a pristine 2 km white-sand stretch of the quirkily named
Beach No. 7 at Havelock Island. Barefoot at Havelock is the first and still
the only ecologically friendly resort in the Andaman Islands. Set in 7 acres
of grounds, the resort consists of 18 beautifully designed wood and thatch
cottages and villas with spacious interiors and ensuite bathrooms. The
property has been constructed using materials which are environmentally
sensitive to their natural surroundings. The rooms have large double beds
with oversize pillows and are fronted by a floor-to-ceiling picture window
and rolling shutters that gives you a beautiful view of the tropical foliage
and fruit trees.
The restaurant turns out delicious vegetarian dishes and seafood - the
vegetables are organically grown and fertilizer free, the sea food fresh
from the sea, the chicken (and eggs) free range. Guests occasionally bring
in their own catch from a successful fishing trip and the kitchen is always
delighted to cook your well-earned meal.
The management are well-meaning but, at times, can be very casual. A lot of
the staff have only had limited training and do not speak much english. A
laid-back and relaxed attitude is vital to an enjoyable stay.

ACCOMMODATION
There are three cottages having 18 rooms, Nicobari Cottage, Andaman
Villas, Duplex Cottage. The fan cooled nicobari cotatge measuring 350sq feet
are constructed mainly out of fast regenerable materials like bamboo, wood
and palm leaves. The interiors of the cottage refurbished-the teakwood
furniture designed and sourced from bali, the soft furnishings from Amara ,
the palm leaf based accessories from the design store in chennai.
The large sumptious beds with oversize pillows are fronted by a floor to
ceiling picture window and rolling shutters that gives a beautiful view of
the tropical foliage and fruit tress in plush comfort.
The ensuite bathrooms are luxurious with grohe fittings and have a seperate
walk-in jungle shower with a clear glass view of the forest canopy. The
bathroom skylight can also be raised to allow fresh air into the villa.
FACILITIES
Facilities at the resort have been kept to a minimum for two reasons-to
retain the spirit of the previous resort and keep a low impact footprint, and
to allowguests to experience more of what there is outside the resort-the
beaches, snorkeling , diving, dunghi fishing , kayaking , forest treks, the
elephants, and most of all the warm and friendly people of havelock.
We have a main restaurant where our chef turns out delicious fusion cuisine
- typically fixed course meals, continental and indian food are our
forte-all ingredients are originally grown and fertilize free , and the
seafood is the days fresh catch. Guests often bring in thier own catch from
a successful fishing trip and the kitchen is always delighted to cook the
well-earned meal in any desired style. Accompanying the meal are a choice of
spirits and a selection of indian wines like sula.
